Places of interest and Locations

Rhodes boasts one of the highest sunshine averages of all the Greek islands. Its good food and friendly atmosphere draws visitors from every nation. Kalithea lies on the northeastern coast of Rhodes about 10 kilometers from the capital of the island. The beach of Kallithea is famous for its hot medicinal springs It is a wonderful place with palm and pine trees and crystalline emerald waters.

The beach of Traganou lies 15 kilometers south-east of the captial of Rhodes and about 4 kilometres from Faliraki. The beach consists of small light coloured pebbles and is boarded by crystal-clear waters. Only a small section of the beach is organized the rest is left in its natural state. Tsampika is located 26 kilometers south-east of the capital of Rhodes Turquoise waters and golden sands create a beautiful scenery, ideal for relaxing and enjoying the sun. Water sports are available on Tsampika as well as a mini-market.

Vagies beach is located 15 kilometers south-east from the City of Rhodes.The beach is surrounded by beautiful rocks and has crystalline waters, shimmering under the sun. A jetty for small crafts is available near the beach as well as a small tavern serving fresh fish and delicious appetizers.

The small sandy beach of Agathi lies 38 kilometers south-east of Rhodes City the golden sands, along with the emerald waters, create a wonderful and attractive picture.

In the new town are many shops with popular brand names, meaning individual shops here and there. And near the beaches begin the tourist bazaars with towels, summer clothes and souvenirs. In the tourist bazaars the prices can be quite high, as everywhere in the tourist areas. In the new town, in normal shops like Terranova, you can find quite inexpensive clothes.

Out & About in Rhodes

Rhodes island, has a major port with sea links to Athens, the islands of the Aegean and Crete, as well as to international destinations such as Cyprus and Israel. Most international and inter island ferries dock at the commercial harbour of Kolona in Rhodes town, and there is a choice of high-speed catamarans, hydrofoils, car ferries or flights to other islands in the Dodecanese group. Public buses service the coastal towns around the island or it is possible to organise a bus tour for island excursions. For shorter distances shared taxis are available and Rental car agencies are easily available.
